Interface Proposal (2) - Mansfield

Proposal 1: Create an array of capacitive sensors that work cooperatively to determine the position of your hand within the three dimensional space of a cube. The positional information will be calculated with the use of a microcontroller and output to control the on-state of a small cube or other 3D shape of multiplexed LEDs.

Proposal 2: Inspired by Yankovsky's Vibroexponator, I'd like to build an instrument that plays notes triggered by color. At present, I imagine an hand held wand or box with a color sensor, microcontroller, and speaker with a possible link to a PC that would allow a person in a somewhat mobile fashion to play the colors in their surroundings. I'm very limited in musical knowledge, but it seems like a pair of devices could play harmonies or color chords with some bridge programming. I'm not sure I could build that, but even with one device you could experiment with creating "paintings" that are pleasing to both the eye and ear.
